2014 EMPA Cohort Valedictorian David Nicholson, Department of Premier and Cabinet, Tasmania, received his Young Public Sector Leader Award alongside IPAA National President Penny Armytage.
Each year the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) Young Public Sector Leader awards recognise the exceptional achievements of a fresh cohort of up-and-coming public sector leaders, having demonstrated excellence in the ANZSOG Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) program. Along with being a high performer in the EMPA, in order to be eligible to receive the prestigious award, nominees must meet rigorous criteria, including demonstrable outstanding achievement in the public service and future leadership potential. The awards are jointly determined by ANZSOG and IPAA.
ANZSOG would like to extend our congratulations to the 2014 EMPA cohort prize winners, Andrew Read (Victorian Department of Education and Training), Daniele Pile (New South Wales Office of Environment and Heritage) and 2014 EMPA Cohort Valedictorian David Nicholson (Tasmanian Department of Premier and Cabinet).
The award recipients were revealed as part of the IPAA National Conference Fellowship Awards ceremony, held at the Convention Centre in Adelaide, 21st October 2016. The ceremony, which also acknowledged wider IPAA National Fellowship recipients including ANZSOG alumni Samantha Palmer (General Manager, Governance, People and Culture, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Executive Fellows Program 2010), Martin Hoffman (Secretary of the NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovation, Executive Fellows Program 2009, CEOs Forum 2015 and China Reciprocal Program 2016) and Jane Halton (former Secretary of the Commonwealth Department of Finance, CEO Forum 2007), showcased the great talent and diversity within the Australian public sector, a feature both inherent and testament to the wide-ranging pedagogy of ANZSOG programs.
