Tanya Smith was with the Commonwealth Government - mainly DFAT - for around 19 years before moving to South Australia's Department of Premier and Cabinet. Smith served as Deputy Chief Executive responsible for whole-of-government policy and federal-state relations when she had the great fortune to participate in the 2009 Executive Fellows Program.
Smith subsequently joined Nous Group and led the Public Policy practice for a few years before becoming Office Leader in Melbourne. She continued to work on public policy-related and organisational reviews and reform issues for government agencies, and enjoys moving between different client challenges and jurisdictional contexts.
Some of her achievements since completing the EFP includes writing a major report for the Gonski review of School Funding that heavily informed the recommendations to government, a definitive study on government responses to large firm closures and mass lay-offs, a cultural reform strategy for Defence, and four whole-of-agency expenditure reviews for Commonwealth Government agencies.
