Robbie is Managing Director of Adaptable Leadership. He has over 20 years of designing and delivering innovative executive leadership development programs across all sectors in Australia and overseas. In recent years he has directed executive leadership programs for senior executives at the Australian Public Service Commission, the ATO, ACCC, and the Australian Institute for Police Management. He is also Program Director of SILA, a groundbreaking national program for CEOs of Not-For-Profit across Australia. He was on the core teaching faculty of the Australian Adaptive Leadership Institute (AALI). Robbie articulates his approach to leadership development as follows: ‘I look at leadership as an activity, rather than as a position. I ask: what can you do? What allows someone to thrive in what they do? I explore values, purpose, as well as the systemic and situational contexts people are called upon and what allows people to take effective action, and consider what gets in the way of effective action? We unashamedly get into the more personal development side: we believe it’s critical to people being able to take effective action and thrive.

Mr Macpherson teaches executive level Public Servants with ANZSOG on their popular Towards Strategic Leadership program, and is an experienced and effective executive coach. With his Dutch colleague Prof. Paul ‘t Hart, Mr Macpherson has worked with senior Dutch public servants at the Netherlands School of Government (NSOB). He has worked with a number of Australia’s major corporations including NAB, Telstra, Australia Post, Medibank, BHP-Billiton and REST Super. For the past ten years he has worked with the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) as lead facilitator of the ground-breaking Police Leadership Strategy (PLS) and Executive Development Strategy (EDS) programs, developing AFP and state Police Commissioners. His work has taken him to South Africa, US, UK, and Netherlands, as well as all state and territories in Australia.

Mr Macpherson is a graduate of the Art of Practice of Leadership Development at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University; an accredited facilitator of The Leadership Circle; Team Management Systems; and an accredited facilitator of the Deep Democracy process.
