Professor Dr. Ines Mergel is a full professor of Digital Governance at the University of Konstanz (Germany), Department of Politics and Public Administration. She received a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) and spend six years at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. After serving as associate professor of public administration and international affairs at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University (USA), she returned to Germany where she works with public manager on all levels of government to lead the digital transformation of the public sector. She is the editor of the open access syllabus “Teaching Public Service in the Digital Age” and author of four books on new technologies, peer-reviewed journal articles and practitioner reports. Her research interest focuses on the digital transformation of public administrations, the necessary methods, modes of collaboration and leadership forms as well as the related competencies that need to be built in the public sector.
