Dana H. Born is currently the Faculty Co-Director for Center for Public Leadership, Faculty Chair for Senior Executive Fellows Program, and Lecturer in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), as well as a retired Brigadier General with 30 years of service in the United States Air Force. She has taken on numerous leadership roles outside HKS including Governing Trustee on the United States Air Force Academy’s Falcon Foundation, serving on the Strategy, Governance and Scholarship Committees; President of the Massachusetts Women’s Forum; member of the International Women’s Forum, Women Corporate Directors, and Council on Foreign Relations, and; Council Member on Boston Mayor’s Pay Equity Workforce.
Prior to her appointment at HKS, Dr. Born served two terms as the Presidentially appointed Dean of the Faculty at the U.S. Air Force Academy where she was also a Professor and Head of the Behavioral Sciences and Leadership Department.
A graduate with distinction from the United States Air Force Academy, Dr. Born received her B.S. in Behavioral Sciences and M.S. in Experimental Psychology from Trinity University, M.A. in Research Psychology from University of Melbourne, and Doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Penn State University.
She is the recipient of senior level military awards including the Secretary of the Air Force’s Eugene M. Zuckert Award for Outstanding Management Achievement, Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Active Duty Service Women Veterans Award, as well as honored with HKS Teaching Awards in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 as well as the HKS Innovation in Teaching Award in 2017.
