Chris Walker is the Associate Dean (University Relations) at ANZSOG and Academic Director of the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) degree. Formerly, Head of the School of Social Sciences at UNSW, his research interests was in the areas of policy analysis, regulatory reform and compliance, university learning and teaching, and student plagiarism. Dr Walker has worked in senior executive and policy positions in numerous public sector agencies including health, road transport, rail safety and the Cabinet Office, and has extensive experience in policy development, intergovernmental relations and micro-economic and regulatory reform. Based on his work at line and central agencies, Dr Walker is able to bring a practical insight into the activities of policy analysis, policy development and regulatory reform across a range of policy sectors.
Dr Walker conducts in-house workshops for public sector agencies on policy analysis and policy practice, which has included conducting a residential workshop on policy analysis and policy practice for senior public servants of the British Virgin Islands. He has recently completed an ANZSOG research project on international policy transfer in the road transport sector.
