Adjunct Professor Profile - Karen Baehler

Karen Baehler
MPP (University of Maryland), PhD, Policy Sciences (University of Maryland)

Adjunct Senior Lecturer

Dr Baehler teaches on the EMPA subject, Designing Public Policies and Programs. She is also Senior Lecturer in Public Policy at the Victoria University of Wellington, where she teaches subjects in public policy and policy analysis. In 2001 she received the Excellence in Teaching Award.

Dr Baehler's research interests include outcomes management, intervention logic, political culture, and the philosophical foundations of social policy. She is currently undertaking research on egalitarianism in New Zealand, supported by the Royal Society of New Zealand's Marsden Fund, and co-authoring a book on policy advice in Australasia with Claudia Scott. In addition to academic research, Dr Baehler provides advice, training, and evaluation services to government departments around strategic outcomes. She holds a PhD in Policy Sciences from the University of Maryland.

She has had articles published in the Australian Journal of Public Administration, Public Sector and Journal of Public and International Affairs.
