New ANZSOG Report on COAG and Central Agencies

Posted 16 May 2012 0

This month, ANZSOG is excited to publish a report from John Curtin Institute of Public Policy academics Dr Jeffrey Harwood and Dr John Phillimore.

It follows on from Kelly et al’s 2010 report Shaping a Strategic Centre, which found that more strategic and more interventionist roles are being assigned to central agencies as political leaders seek to introduce policy reforms other than those associated with managerialism and new public management.

Harwood and Phillimore’s report, The Effects of COAG’s National Reform Agenda on Central Agencies, examines the way in which Commonwealth and State central agencies are responding to COAG’s National Reform Agenda, and the challenges they face in relation to what could be “the most significant changes to Australian federalism in a generation”.
