Moira Heath—EMPA, New South Wales

Moira is the Director, Human Resources for WorkCover NSW.

She has had a varied career initially leaving school at the completion of Year 10 (or 4th Form as it was known then) proceeding to full time employment and part time study. During her working life, Moira has studied on a part time basis for more than 20 years achieving a TAFE teaching qualification, a Post Graduate in Employment Relations and Master of Business and is just about to achieve an Executive Masters of Public Administration.

In her business career Moira has worked within the Human Resource field both overseas, in places such as China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and also New York, and within Australia. Some of her achievements have been:

• Opening a new business in China including sales, marketing and operations;
• Developing a business strategy for a Japan operation enabling the organization to reduce its staff numbers whilst improving their business operations;
• Developing remuneration and incentive programs linked to corporate and personal objectives;
• Managing relocations of business enterprises – country to country and within cities;
• Improving injury management and occupational health and safety;
• Introducing career paths linked to a competency framework;
• Developing and implementing leadership programs; and
• Designing and delivering highly effective team building programs.

Moira has a wonderful partner and two beautiful daughters and tries to maintain a balance in her life between work and family responsibilities.

In her spare time (not that there is much at the moment) Moira enjoys golf, reading, social events with family and friends and brunches in cafes.
